New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady surpassed former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway in all-time passing yardage

It’s only fitting that the New England Patriots played the Denver Broncos on Sunday, beating their AFC rivals 43-21.  Pats quarterback Tom Brady passed former Broncos quarterback on the NFL’s all-time passing yardage list.  He is now fifth all-time in passing yardage.

Brady, who threw for 333 yards on a 33-53, four touchdown and one interception day, is now at 51,541 yards in his career.  Elway finished his career at 51,475 yards.  The next target is Drew Brees.  The New Orleans Saints quarterback is fourth on the all-time passing yardage list with 53,605 yards.

His rival, current Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is second on the all-time list with 67,098 yards passing for his career.  The all-time leader is Brett Favre with 71,838 yards passing.  I think it is safe to say that Brady will not be catching either one of them.  With Manning playing probably another year or two and Brady probably two to three more years, it doesn’t seem probable he’ll get to Manning or Favre.

Now third on the list is former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino at 61,361 yards.  There is good chance Brady will catch him as long as he plays at least two more seasons.  We could possibly see Manning catching Favre though before he is all said and done in the league.  Manning already broke Favre’s all-time touchdown record earlier this season.
