ENMU Football Players Save A Man Pinned Under Truck

Too often, we hear the cliché being at the right place at the right time was key. For John Reilly, it was the difference between life and certain death.

Last Wednesday two Eastern New Mexico University football players Chevy Mikaele and Ben Langford were attending an evening service Wednesday night when they heard a man crying for help.

Defensive Lineman Mikaele and Outside Linebacker Langford darted across the street to find Reilly pinned underneath his truck. Both immediately proceeded to lift the truck two feet in the air to free the trapped man.

Pastor Johnny Pacheco stated to KOB  “When I dragged him out, he wasn’t breathing at all. We looked for a pulse, but there was no pulse that we could find.”

Eventually Mr. Reilly began breathing and is currently recovering at a Lubbock area hospital with a cracked spine. Mary Reilly, John’s wife, is grateful the two Football players were there to spring into action to save her husband.

In a fortunate twist, both players strayed from their normal routine of going home after practice. However, the duo opted to go to church that evening.

With some college football players making headlines for shoplifting, assault, and other criminal behavior, it just goes to show you not everyone chooses a negative path on their collegiate journey.
