Keys to Victory

The keys to the Seahawks winning their third game in a row and improving to 6-3 on the season is a simple one facing a reeling Giants team in their home stadium where they own the league’s greatest home field advantage, give the ball to their workhorse running back early and often. The Giants have the No. 22 rush defense in the league and Lynch is coming off a 67-yard, two-touchdown performance last week and also had 76 receiving yards as he was the focal point of the offense.

Feed Lynch on first and second downs and that will give Wilson favorable situations on third down against the Giants No. 28 pass defense where he won’t be forced into unmanageable third-and-long’s.

The Seahawks have the No. 2 rushing offense in the league and the No. 30 passing offense so it is obvious what the Seahawks blue print will be on Sunday afternoon.

If the Giants are to snap their three-game losing streak, they must find a way to run the football. Rashad Jennings has been out for a month and probably won’t suit up in this game, meaning Andre Williams has to be better than the 1.8 yards per carry average he had last week against the Indianapolis Colts.

However, that will be tough sledding against the Seahawks No. 4 rush defense.

Getting the ball in the hands of Odell Beckham Jr. has to be a priority to open up the offense against a very stout defense.

If they can move him around and get him in space where he won’t be one-on-one with All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman, he can make some big plays and that should open up some running room for the Giants rush attack.

Prediction

This is a tough matchup for the Giants who have struggled to run the ball and face one of the toughest defenses against the run this year and they have to do so in one of the tougher road environments in the NFL. The combination of those factors plus the number of injuries the Giants have suffered this year, especially on defense, has me picking the Seahawks to improve to 6-3 on the year and drop the Giants to 3-6.

Final Score: Seahawks: 27, Giants: 17
