Lance Stephenson is one bad dude. In a double-overtime game between the Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Hawks, Stephenson manned the inbound for his new team and immediately received the handoff for a potential buzzer beater. It was a simple play drawn up by coach Steve Clifford, but one that resulted in an open look for Born Ready.
Stephenson banked it it, giving his Hornets the win on the buzzer beater.
What happened after that? Stephenson ran and jumped onto the scorers table to bask in the cheers of all the Hornets fans he just won over. Then I went and found his rap video and played it for my own enjoyment while I watched the Vine over and over (Someone needs to make a mashup of that).
Stephenson signed with the Hornets in the offseason, and was considered a risk because of his on-the-court behavior. Charlotte took the gamble on the 23-year-old, seeing his potential and knowing he is probably the best free agent they would be able to sign. You know, being Charlotte and all.
The Hornets are coming off a playoff appearance and have the pieces in place to make another run. Maybe this time they’ll have that extra stuff to get past the first round.
