The Chicago Bears were out of answers when asked about their struggles after the team was crushed in Green Bay.

At this point, if your team has beaten the Chicago Bears, it’s probably not a big deal. After watching over 100 points get dropped on them in the last two weeks, the Bears appear to have hit rock bottom. At 3-6, the team is all but eliminated from the playoff picture and appears much closer to the top five in the draft than anywhere else. Even worse, no one on the team can really tell you why this promising squad has fallen flat on its face without resorting to worn cliches that tell us very little.

“I think we’re all searching for answers right now,” quarterback Jay Cutler told reporters after the game, per Pro Football Talk.  “And we don’t really have a lot.  So the next couple day, we gotta figure this out.  Look inside each player, and find out what team we want to be on Wednesday. . . .  To play like that, it’s embarrassing.”

You think?

“We have good players,” defensive end Jared Allen added.  “We obviously aren’t a good team.  When you get a beat-down like this, you can’t say much else.  We have talent.  We just need to find a way to win games.”

Oof, we’re already in ‘find a way’ mode?

“There’s a lot of leaders on this team, including myself,” Cutler said.  “We’ve just got to stay positive and not let anybody do things [to] try to tear us apart.  We’ve got to stick together, there’s gonna be a lot of stuff from the outside.  And we know that.”

Now that we’ve covered all the cliches associated with an NFL team getting ripped to shreds by the rest of the league and its own fanbase, it’s time to look ahead for the Bears. They host division foe Minnesota Vikings in the hopes of getting back on track and at least restoring respectability to this disastrous 2014 season.
