The Oklahoma City Thunder are broken, so can Anthony Morrow’s return a key for the NBA playoff hopes?
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been dealing with injury after injury this season, and one of those main injuries was to offseason acquisition Anthony Morrow. They signed him to bring perimeter shooting and lethal scoring to the lineup, but he has yet to play this season due to a sprained MCL. According to a report from Shams Charania of RealGM.com, Morrow is set to make his season debut for the Thunder tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Is getting Morrow back going to be a major key for the Thunder to help them turn the season around?
Quite simply, the answer to that question is yes. He will add scoring help which is something that the Thunder have desperately needed since losing both Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, and will also add veteran experience. It isn’t likely that he’ll average 20+ points per game when both of the Thunder stars come back, but up until then he could have quite a few 20-point games.
Anthony Morrow is a virtual lock to make his season debut for the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight in Milwaukee, league sources tell RealGM.

Last season with the New Orleans Pelicans, Morrow ended up averaging 8.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field and 45.1 percent from behind the three-point arc. He didn’t play consistent minutes for the Pelicans, but the Thunder will be asking for a fairly large role from him right off the bat.
Morrow has the scoring ability to make the type of impact on the Thunder that they are looking for, and could be a key piece to help them stay in playoff contention while the rest of their roster gets healthy. It will be intriguing to see what he’s able to do coming off of the injury, and the Bucks are a perfect team to play against for his debut.
Oklahoma City still has quite a bit of talent on the court in Reggie Jackson, Jeremy Lamb, and Serge Ibaka, and Morrow returning will help. Perry Jones is also a key player for them that should return soon.
All of that being said, Morrow is going to have a bigger role this year with the Thunder than he has had with any team for a few years. He will finally be given the green light to play his game, and will be allowed to take as many shots as he wants. Expect to see a much improved version of Morrow this season.
