The Boston Bruins may have defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-2 on Monday night, but it was an amazing no-look goal by center Seth Griffith that stole the show.

There were only two games on the National Hockey League schedule last night; the Carolina Hurricanes taking on the Calgary Flames and the Boston Bruins faceoff with the New Jersey Devils.

When the final buzzer sounded, the Boston Bruins would ultimately defeat the New Jersey Devils. The funny thing is, the win wasn’t really the big moment of the evening.

If you mention last night’s game to anyone who was watching and ask them about the game, one of the things they are sure to mention was the utterly amazing no-look goal from Bruins center Seth Griffith.

So…here’s how it all went down. It’s late in the second period and the Bruins and Devils are all tied up at 2. Devils captain Bryce Salvador fired off a fierce shot on Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask that was deflected all the way back to the blue line.

Realizing what was going on, Griffith jumped into action and got on the puck. He carried it into the offensive zone where he was met with two defensemen. Not to be deterred, Griffith split the defense and continued on towards the net.

For a split second, he lost contact with the puck. As he careened backwards toward Devils goaltender Cory Schneider, Griffith looks down, splits his legs, and blindly takes the shot. The crowd went bonkers as the puck went right through Schneider’s five hole and into the net.

This is something you really have to see for yourself.

The goal, which ended up being the game winner, is Griffith’s fourth goal of the season. In the twelve games he’s suited up for this season Griffith has two assists for a total of six points.

Seth Griffith is certainly not the first person to pull off an amazing shot like this, and there is no doubt that he will not be the last, but for at least that moment in time, it is all about his amazing shot and the goal the Bruins needed to get the win.

The B’s don’t have very long to celebrate. Tomorrow night the Bruins head into the Air Canada Centre to face off with Phil Kessel and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
