Buck Showalter was named American League Manager of the Year on Tuesday.
Buck Showalter has done it again.
The Baltimore Orioles skipper was named American League Manager of the Year for the third time of his illustrious career on Tuesday.

Showalter received 25-of-30 first-place votes and was followed by Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia and Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost in the voting.

Showalter did an outstanding job with the Orioles this season, leading them to 96 wins and an American League East title. Showalter did all of this despite the fact that lost two of his best players — Matt Wieters and Manny Machado — to season-ending injuries.
Unfortunately for Showalter, his incredible managerial job did not result in a trip to the World Series. The Orioles toppled the Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series, but fell to Yost’s Royals in the American League Championship Series.
Yost made a strong statement about his managerial ability with the Royals’ trip to the World Series, but voting for Manager of the Year takes place before the postseason begins so his playoff magic did him no good in the award race.
Showalter joins only Tony LaRussa in the elite class of managers that have three Manager of the Year Awards. LaRussa won his awards with St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox. Showalter also won with three different teams: the Orioles, New York Yankees and Texas Rangers.
