Atlanta Braves outfielder Justin Upton has a new no-trade list for the 2015 season, and can block trades to four specified MLB teams: two NL teams and two AL teams.

One of the fun things in the offseason is to learn when MLB players update their limited no-trade lists, and Atlanta Braves outfielder Justin Upton is the latest start to do so:

More from Atlanta Braves

Upton had a negotiated clause in his contract that allows him to submit a list of four teams every year whom he can block a potential trade with; He used the clause to keep the

Arizona Diamondbacks

from

trading

him to the

Seattle Mariners

in late 2012.

As for the teams on Upton’s list, the Chicago Cubs and Toronto Blue Jays appear to be constants on his no-trade list, as they were among the teams he could block a trade to after the 2012 season, leaving the Milwaukee Brewers and Cleveland Indians as the new additions to the list.

The Braves aren’t expected to be shopping Upton, so the list might be inconsequential, and Upton isn’t required to explain his choices — and  he can always waive his clause if the Braves were to approach him about being traded and ask. So take the list with some cynicism.
