The Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens played “Let’s Make a Deal” on Tuesday, as the Stars moved veteran D Sergei Gonchar in exchange for F Travis Moen.

Could anyone blame Sergi Gonchar if it ever came out that he doesn’t own a house? Considering he’s played for five teams during his 20 years in the NHL, you’d have to think he’s an All-Star when it comes to finding a residence on short notice.

More from Dallas Stars

Well, Gonchar will get another chance to hone those real estate skills, as the Dallas Stars moved him to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Travis Moen on Tuesday, making Les Habs the sixth sweater that the 40-year-old Gonchar will done, provided he is able to get back on the ice.

Sergei Gonchar has played in just three games this season, as he is still recovering from a fractured ankle.

His bank account certainly isn’t fractured, since he’s still due $5 million in the final year of his contract (but, oh, those Canadian taxes!). The Stars were willing to take $400,000 off his contract, yet there’s no fear of Gonchar having to clip grocery store coupons any time soon.

While the Canadiens will welcome Sergei Gonchar’s experience — both on ice and on best places to eat on road trips — the addition of Moen leaves nothing more than a shrug of the shoulders of Stars fans. Moen has been a healthy scratch 10 times this season, yet will enhance the Stars’ penalty-killing unit.

Hopefully, Moen didn’t have tickets for the CFL playoffs, but he gets to Dallas just in time for the annual December breakdown of the Cowboys.
