Wrigley Field is undergoing some significant renovations this MLB off-season. You won’t believe the photos of what it looks like without bleachers.

Bleachers. The bleacher bums. Pasty, overweight men with no shirts on. Home runs from the visiting team thrown back. These are some of the most famous images whenever you see a Chicago Cubs game on TV. In so many ways, the outfield bleachers become the picture of the essence of historic Wrigley Field.

With the rooftops in the background, those loyal souls pack into uncomfortable seats, game after game, as some of the most familiar baseball fans in the entire league. To see Wrigley Field without the bleachers, then, is disconcerting indeed. But that is exactly the case as the stadium is renovated this off-season.

Eventually Wrigley Field will be back in form, with updates and renovations to boot. These kinds of projects are always met with mixed reactions when it comes to historic, landmark parks like this one or Fenway Park.

With the arrival of Joe Maddon and a number of talented young players in 2014, along with the money to make a splash in free agency this winter, there is going to be a lot of buzz surrounding the Cubs next season. When they take the field, Wrigley Field won’t have exactly the same look as before.
