WWE Raw Hits And Misses: Ryback Rules, Cena Struggles

The Survivors Series main event is starting to take shape, as new team members were announced on WWE Raw.

The WWE has been pushing the WWE Network and the fact that it’s free for the whole month of November, including Survivor Series.

But the way the main event is shaping out to be, maybe they should be paying the fans to watch this show.

We are two weeks away from Survivor Series and I’m not even excited for this show. But I shouldn’t be surprised. You get what you pay for. And when it’s free, you shouldn’t expect much.

Not much about this week’s Raw gets me excited. And there weren’t many good segments. With some of the top stars (Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Chris Jericho) off the show as they were at a different part of the U.K. for a house show, this week just seemed to fall flat on its face.

Here are some hits and misses from this week’s Raw:

Hits

Building up Dolph Ziggler

Finally. The WWE is moving Dolph Ziggler up the food chain. The man deserves a push and bringing him up to the main event of a pay-per-view is what he needs.

He’s had some great matches in recent weeks and being one of the main vocal points of the main event is good for him. But hopefully this continues past Survivor Series.

Ryback as the new monster

With Brock Lesnar as champion and Rusev over as a monster heel, the WWE needs a monster that go along with the bad guys. Ryback has made his return and immediately has been pushed to main even status.

I like the push, but it will be hard for the WWE to get Ryback over with the crowd quickly.

Booking him as a one-man team, after watching Raw you don’t know which side he is on. My guess he teams with John Cena and helps take out The Authority. If not, there’s no big guys to take on Rusev or even Lesnar.

I just hope they don’t squash Ryback’s push like they did a couple of years ago when he feuded with CM Punk. Ultimately, Ryback can be legit competition for Lesnar when the Royal Rumble comes around.

Misses

Main event with superstars who are not over

Free! Free! Free! You get what you pay for. And since you’re not paying for anything, you will get garbage.

No, I don’t want to see the Big Show in the main event. Or Mark Henry. Or Sheamus. Why? Because the crowd doesn’t care about these guys and the storylines recently with their involvement has been lackluster.

So instead of involving Randy Orton, Triple H, Hulk Hogan and Lesnar, they are filling up the main event of a pay-per-view with guys we don’t care about.

The Big Show and Henry have turned face/heel so many times, I’ve lost count. You are expecting me to believe that Triple H wants Henry on his team after losing to Rusev just two months ago?

Sheamus has been the same, boring character for the past few years. And he goes to being involved in a match that wasn’t even on Raw to now main even status. I just don’t get it.

Same with Jack Swagger. Why would Cena want Swagger on his team when he’s probably only won one match in the last few months? It doesn’t make sense.

They better do something to save the main event in the next week. Or it’s going to be just awful to watch this show.

One too many Miz’s on Raw. (WWE.com)

Ruining Mizdow

They are going to ruin this. I swear, they are going to ruin the Miz/Mizdow gimmick and destroy the push Mizdow is getting.

What is the perfect way to ruin a good thing? Starting bringing in superstars who have no connection to the gimmick and force the funny angle on the crowd.

Having Hornswoggle be the mini-Miz is just awful. But it takes away from Mizdow and what he has done to build the character up. The Miz and Mizdow could really be something special in the long-run, but with adding Hornswoggle, it just cheapens the gimmick.

Before you know it, Mizdow will go back to Damien Sandow and they will have nothing for The Miz, which is a shame. It’s time to put the tag team belts on Miz and Mizdow and be creative with the pair.

If not, the WWE is going to drop the ball on one of the best gimmicks they have going.

Moore Thoughts: Still no Brock Lesnar or Paul Heyman…always love the U.K. crowd and they deserved a better show…Stephanie is trying to be too much like her dad…hopefully Mr. McMahon returns to TV when they come back to the States.
