Wladimir Klitschko vs Kubrat Pulev Result: Klitschko Scores 5th Round KO

On Saturday afternoon, Wladimir Klitschko put his heavyweight titles on the line against Kubrat Pulev at the O2 World Arena in Altona, Hamburg, Germany.
Klitschko was defending the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & The Ring Heavyweight titles.
Pulev was going right after Klitschko at the beginning of the fight, making it an ugly match with plenty of clinch work. However, just a little over a minute into the fight, Klitschko landed a huge left hook that crubmled Pulev to the mat.
Pulev mocked Wladimir Klitschko as he attempted to recover and he quickly returned to the canvas with another left hook landing from the champion.
Two knockdowns in the first round showed that Wladimir Klitschko was in clear control of the fight. Pulev managed to survive the round, however.
Despite being knocked down twice in the opening round, Pulev continued to press forward in the fight. It wasn’t the smartest strategy in the world, however, with Wladimir Klitschko showing his patience and continuing to pick his shots.
Klitschko landed a heavy right hand, while Pulev was trying to rough Klitschko up to take the champion out of his rhythm. That wasn’t working, though, with Klitscko showing patience and keeping Pulev at range. Klitschko landed another strong left handand Pulev was struggling to mount any offense.
In the third round, Pulev was wobbled by a huge right hand by Wladimir Klitschko and Klitschko poured on the aggression. After referee Tony Weeks separated the two from the clinch, Klitschko rocked Pulev with another crushing left to record his third knockdown of the night. The fight was all Klitchscko through three rounds and there was no sign of him slowing down.
Wladimir Klitschko continued to dominate the fight, with Pulev having no answer. The damage was beginning to show on Pulev’s face and Klitschko started with a methodical approach to the fight that he already was well in control of. Pulev finally landed his biggest shot of the fight with a big right hand, but then he ate a devastating shot from Wladimir Klitschko that separated him from consciousness and brought and end to the night.
