The Seattle Seahawks are expected to move on from star running back Marshawn Lynch at the end of the 2014 NFL season.

The identity of the Seattle Seahawks’ offense still feels like it is built around Beast Mode. Marshawn Lynch is still the guy who makes things tick on that side of the ball, something he showed with a four touchdown performance last week.

Even with that being the case, the Seahawks appear to be set on moving on from Lynch at the end of this season. According to Ian Rapoport, as passed along by Kevin Patra of NFL.com:

"“Everything I’m being told by people involved in the situation, nothing has changed with the Seahawks’ plans to part ways with Marshawn Lynch after the season,” Rapoport said."

The interesting thing is, the Seahawks most certainly do not have a replacement in mind for Lynch, yet they still plan to move on. It does not sounds like either guy currently on the roster, Robert Turbin and Christine Michael, has made much of an impression. More from Rapaport:

"“Neither of those guys have turned into franchise backs,” Rapoport said of Turbin and Michael. “… I would expect them to target a running back high in the draft. Pay attention to Melvin Gordon, who just set the national rushing record. He’s from Wisconsin, (Seahawks GM) John Schneider (is) from Wisconsin …”"

Given his 400 yard performance on Saturday and his rising star in general, Gordon will be on a number of teams’ radars. That certainly will not be unique to the Seahawks.

I don’t think you have to be an NFL scout to know that it is part Lynch and part the system when the Seahawks get rolling on the ground. Just how much it is Lynch might become clear next season if this report comes to be true.
