The San Diego Chargers are playing the everything is fine card, a popular card to play in the NFL, on Monday morning in regard to their quarterback Philip Rivers, at least from a physicality stand point. Rivers left Sunday’s 13-6 victory over the Oakland Raiders for a brief period after it appeared that team medical staff attended to his knee on the sidelines.
To add to that, after the game Chargers tight end Antonio Gates fueled the fire a little more by offering up that Rivers has been dealing with a severe rib injury. It lead people to wonder why he would offer that kind of information up without anything being said by the team first?
However nothing of the sort came from the Chargers on Monday. It is interesting what the real issue may be but it sounds like someone knows something about Rivers and isn’t divulging any information publicly.
When it reaches ProFootballTalk.com, there is usually something there worth discussion. If Rivers is hurting though, the Chargers aren’t about to tip their hand. They play host to the St. Louis Rams next Sunday. The Rams are coming off a huge victory over the Denver Broncos and have seen their pass rush greatly improve over the last month. That could spell trouble for Rivers and the Chargers.
