Minnesota Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson has already put his plans in motion to appeal the ruling made by the National Football League to suspend Peterson at least through the remainder of the season.

It is almost as if they knew this was coming. Just moments after the National Football League issued their ruling, which will see Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson suspended for the remainder of the season without pay, it was announced that Peterson would  be appealing the ruling.

Under the terms of the current collective bargaining agreement, Peterson has three days to appeal this ruling, but it would seem as if Peterson, along with the NFLPA would only need a matter of hours.

Here is a look at the official statement from the National Football League Players’ Association on the suspension of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

"“The decision by the NFL to suspend Adrian Peterson is another example of the credibility gap that exists between the agreements they make and the actions they take. Since Adrian’s legal matter was adjudicated, the NFL has ignored their obligations and attempted to impose a new and arbitrary disciplinary proceeding.”“The facts are that Adrian has asked for a meeting with Roger Goodell, the discipline imposed is inconsistent and an NFL executive told Adrian that his time on the Commissioner’s list would be considered as time served.”“The NFLPA will appeal this suspension and will demand that a neutral arbitrator oversee the appeal.”“We call on the NFL Management Council to show our players and our sponsors leadership by committing to collective bargaining so a fair personal conduct policy can be implemented as quickly as possible.”"

As you are sure to know by now, Peterson is one of many high-profile players to find themselves in hot water over the course of the last few months thanks to their actions off of the football field.

While players like Ray Rice find themselves embroiled in their own legal issues thanks to allegations of domestic violence, Peterson is facing allegations of child abuse.

At this point, Peterson will not be eligible for reinstatement until April 15th. That is a long time to sit at home without a paycheck.

Players of Peterson’s caliber are more than likely not hurting for cash, but a long and drawn out court proceeding certainly does wonders when it comes to draining a pocket book.

Do you think that the NFL’s ruling was fair and appropriate considering the charges against Adrian Peterson, or do you think that Peterson has a case and has a chance of winning his appeal? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
