The Florida Gators need a new head coach in 2015 after firing Will Muschamp, and Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze is a name that is being kicked around with a lot of seriousness.

When the Florida Gators decided that they were going to part ways with head coach Will Muschamp, the search for a new head coach had already started. We’re still int he stage where fantastical names are being considered, like Jon Gruden, Jim Harbaugh and Mike Shanahan, but one name is starting to gain some traction and for good reason.

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze is quickly becoming a serious name for the head coaching job, as his credentials scream SEC success and his candidacy for the Florida job is obvious.

Freeze may be rising on the list of names being considered for the Florida job, but he’s not going to talk about the rumors anytime soon.

"“I have a policy that I don’t discuss my job status, good or bad,” Freeze said. “I don’t think anything good comes from that. My family and I are extremely happy in Oxford and I love working with chancellor Dan Jones and Ross Bjork.“… My total focus is on getting our kids ready for Arkansas.”"

He’s not an end-all-be-all name for the Florida job however he’s the most plausible name at this point in the game. It’s going to be a long process to find a new head coach but it’s one that is going to see Florida take their tim in finding a guy they feel will restore the Gainesville glory. That may not be Freeze, but even if it is, he’s not going to be the one to tell you about it while he tries to win his way back into the playoffs with Ole Miss this season.
