People compare LeBron James to Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson all the time, but on Friday he was more like Reggie Miller. Miller’s most famous moment is arguably is his eight points in 8.9 seconds in Game 1 of the 1995 Eastern Conference Finals to win a stunner against the New York Knicks 107-105.
While the stakes weren’t nearly as high Friday against the Wizards, James scored four points in a matter of four seconds. First on a lob for the alley-oop, then after rebounding a missed shot by Kyrie Irving who stole the inbounds pass. Check it out below.
How did this happen? Well, LeBron got the lob from Kyrie in transition, and there is never stopping LeBron in the open court. Then the Wizards’ Otto Porter royally screwed up the inbound pass, which went right by Marcin Gortat and straight to Kyrie who spotted up quickly for the shot. It didn’t seem like anyone was ready for him to shoot, and LeBron has the awareness to stay for the rebound and snatch it up.
The series shows just how dynamic this new Big Three in Cleveland can be. These are the kind of things that can happen when stars aline and they are on their game.
