Wait, did Derrick Rose steal a kid’s shirt?

Derrick Rose once again didn’t play in tonight’s Chicago Bulls game. This was a national TV game against the Sacramento Kings, and they probably could have used him. The Bulls ended up losing 103-88. Rose is a competitive guy, after a loss like that, he surely was frustrated. He’s in a difficult situation right now, wanting to keep himself healthy long term, while he sees his teammate struggle. It has to bother him more than anybody. But the real interest here happened after the game was completed, and players were heading back to the locker room.

Rose, heading back to the locker room, sees a young fan. Possibly his first Bulls game ever. He clearly wants an autograph from the NBA superstar. Rose walks over, sees this, takes the shirt…and that’s it. Rose walks back to the locker room and the TV cuts to NBA on TNT crew. So…did Rose just steal this kid’s shirt? They never cut back to Rose bringing the shirt back to the kid, as far as thousands know, Rose stole some poor kid’s shirt. How could he, that’s awful! Maybe Rose isn’t so humble.

In reality, he probably did not steal the shirt. While hard to see, it looks like Rose grabs a pen, and is going to sign it in the tunnel. It’s possible he’s going to go get the entire Bulls team to sign the shirt. If that’s the case, that’s an even nicer gesture than one autograph from a former MVP. But still, that moment where everybody thought “Did Rose just steal that shirt?” was pretty funny. Couldn’t help but laugh.
