Anthony Davis Won’t With the Award, Yet.

The best player in the NBA today is Anthony Davis and it’s nowhere near close who’s in second place. At the moment the only competition that Curry faces in the NBA MVP voting is Davis.

Even though Davis is statistically having a better season than Curry, his team success is going to limit his MVP candidacy. Before the season began, some of the Hoops Habit writers and myself had a discussion about Anthony Davis’ chances on wiinning the MVP. I vehemently made the case for how Davis could win the MVP award, but we came to a concrete resolution that it couldn’t happen.

The reason it didn’t look like it could happen is because Davis’ team will most likely not win 45 games. Because Davis’ team hasn’t elevated to his level yet, it only hampers his chance to win the award. The MVP traditionally goes to the best player on one of the best teams.

Right now no star player has affected his team’s success stronger than Curry.
