The Minnesota Vikings have taken advantage of some early game stalling from the Carolina Panthers to jump out to an early lead, including this blocked punt that the Vikings returned for a score.

Coming into this game the Panthers were definitely closer to being a playoff team than the Vikings thanks to a poor year in the NFC South.

After a quarter the Vikings are making the Panthers look like the record they hold, 3-7-1, and not like the playoff team.

After a quick pass for a score from quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to Kyle Rudolph the Panthers got the ball back on the ensuing kickoff, only to do nothing and being forced to punt for a second time.

The first punt was not any good, landing on the wrong side of the fifty and as soon as the ball was snapped you could tell that this wasn’t going to be any good either.

Adam Thielen, number 19, broke through the line quickly to block Brad Nortman’s punt and scoop it up for the thirty-yard return. The blocked punt turned touchdown was only the first blocked punt returned for a touchdown in the teams history since October of 1986 when Issiac Holt did it, the Vikings PR team tweeted out afterward.

The Vikings are currently up 14-3 on a struggling Panthers squad.
