This shot was more than just a game winner, it’s so much weight off a fanbase that for two weeks has been sitting in self pity. The Charlotte Hornets have grown notorious this season for blowing any lead they have. Tonight was no different. They led by 20 points, and there wasn’t a single Hornets fan confident Charlotte would hold on to it. They had blown it before, they would do it again.
So when the Hornets lead was cut to six points, nobody was surprised. There was the usual complaining and begs to not do this to them again, but the fans knew it was coming anyways. Then, Kemba Walker fell down leaving Jose Calderon wide open for the three. Marvin Williams panicked and went to cover Calderon leaving a wide open Carmelo Anthony, in the corner. The Knicks took the lead, and everybody knew how this story went.
Alright, the ball is gonna go into Kemba Walker, he’s gonna dribble around a bit, followed up by a horrible floater. The shot will miss, the Knicks will win, and Hornets fans will want to fire and trade everybody. But wait…
KEMBA WALKER ENDS THE LOSING STREAK. The fans celebrate while the players have a huge weight lifted off their shoulders, you can see it on their faces. The Hornets knew they blew another one and the last thing they wanted was to blow another lead at home. The last thing they needed was to extend the losing streak. But Cardiac Kemba emerged, saving the Hornets from another night of misery.
