5. Peyton Manning, QB, Denver Broncos

Peyton Manning has been up and down throughout the season in the MVP rankings, but right now he is placed here at number five. There is no question that he has been one of the most valuable players this season as the Denver Broncos look to get back to the Super Bowl, but he simply isn’t the leader this year.

Throughout the regular season so far, Manning has thrown for 3,910 yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Those numbers are great, but he has an extremely talented team around him that has supported him as well. He is very deserving of a spot in the rankings, but as of right now is not a worthy candidate to win the award.

It’s still very possible that he picks things up throughout the remaining three weeks of the season, but he’ll need to put up some monster games to come all of the way back to beat out the top two players. The Broncos are looking like one of the clear Super Bowl contenders in the AFC, but there is plenty of competition. Manning will need to continue coming through for his team in order to lead them back to compete for a championship for the second straight season.
