I would give Ty Lawson a new team

By Jordan White

@JordanSWhite

Ty Lawson is a very good player and perhaps the most underrated point guard. Any coach that talks about Denver says stopping Lawson is the key to stopping the Nuggets. He’s an absolute blur with the ball in his hands, a gifted passer and a very good scorer (when he wants to be). As we saw with the Nuggets recent surge to respectability, when Lawson’s on, he elevates the team to a completely new, higher level.

Unfortunately, that higher level for the Nuggets isn’t anything more than a ninth or tenth seed in the West, through no fault of Lawson’s. Putting Lawson on a different team would do wonders for him. Lawson’s not the best player on a championship team, but the third-best? At the very,very least, its starting point guard? Absolutely. Imagine him in Jeff Hornacek’s offense, or playing alongside Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in Miami. He’d be released from the pressure to be The Guy, free to pass or score to his heart’s desire.

So rather than let Lawson toil away in mediocrity for another season, I, Jordan S White (the S stands for SantaClaus, obviously), give Lawson the gift of a new team. Where he wants to go, there shall he be. Whatever the cap issue, whatever the contractual issue, it shall be cleared, because this is the holiday season, a time for miracles.
