Report: Boston Red Sox Agree To Acquire Wade Miley From Diamondbacks
By Hayden Kane
The Boston Red Sox acquired some help for their rotation on Wednesday night, acquiring starting pitcher Wade Miley from the Arizona Diamondbacks as the MLB Winter Meetings wind down.
He might not be Jon Lester, but Wade Miley is a proven left-handed starting pitcher in the big leagues. On Wednesday night, the Red Sox reportedly agreed to a trade for Miley to help their starting rotation after failing to talk Lester into a reunion.

A number of teams had expressed interest in Miley once it was clear that Dave Stewart and the new Diamondbacks’ front office were open to trading him. Talks appeared to come and go with a variety of teams, with the Red Sox finally winning out with their final offer to trade for the lefty.
Per Ken Rosenthal:
But just then, as people started to react to the deal, Bob Nightengale hears that it is not agreed to yet.
Presumably the hold up is the exact terms of the deal, whether it is the prospects who will change hands or something else. Still, given the fact that a Ken Rosenthal report is usually nails, it sounds like a deal centering around Miley and De La Rosa and others is likely to go through eventually.
Wade Miley went 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA in 33 starts last season. His struggles on that bad Arizona team are not necessarily representative of his body of work, however, as he has a career 3.79 ERA.
Stay tuned until the deal is official, but it sounds like the Red Sox have made a deal to add to their rotation.
