How much staying power have the jersey sales of the last 11 NFL draft picks had in 2014?

When you’re the No. 1 overall draft pick in the NFL, you’re basically an instant celebrity. For the most part, you’re the one coming into the league with the most eyes on you from the fans. With this comes a lot of people that want to buy your jersey. Now whether or not they continue to purchase your jersey depends on whether you pan out or not.

With that being said, how have the jersey sales been faring for every No. 1 draft pick since 2004, here in the year 2014?

Thanks to the DICK’S Sporting Goods Jersey Report, which reflects sales both nationwide and online, we can take a look at this to see who is still racking up the jersey sales long after they’ve made their respective NFL debuts.

Now Cam Newton and Andrew Luck towering over everyone else really is no surprise. These are two of the most popular young stars that the game of football has right now under center, and their jersey sales should continue to dominate for the foreseeable future.

If there’s anything surprising here, it’s that Matthew Stafford’s numbers are a bit low. Stafford, much like Luck and Newton, is a successful young quarterback that has a bright future ahead of him. With more success on the field, though, he could take a rise up.

Then, of course, there’s the non-shockers–like, Jamarcus Russell.
