John Elway has proven to be a very smart football man in recent years with the success being evident on last years trip to the Super Bowl. They did not reach the result that they wanted but Elway is always busy making moves to ensure the Broncos have a shot to continue and compete for the coveted Lomardi Trophy. Today was no different for Elway and the Broncos Orginization.

Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network is reporting that Elway has reached an agreement to lock top CB Chris Harris down for the next 5 years worth a reported 42.5 million dollars. The Broncos have a whole host of pending free agents to lock down for next season and I am guessing that Elway will probably be able to keep a good percentage of them.

Harris takes to Twitter as well to announce how happy he is to be in Denver for 5 more years. He has around 42.5 millions reasons to be thankful, but he certainly seems to be a good fit in the Mile High City as he has become a CB that most quarterbacks like to stay away from. Harris has been a key contributor to the Broncos stellar record starting every game while recording 45 tackles (43 solo), 3 interceptions, one sack, 15 passes defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
“Chris is a young, ascending player who has consistently performed at a high level during his first four years in the NFL,” Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway said. “It’s a priority for us to develop and reward our own players as we continue assembling the best possible team. Whether it’s on the field or in the community, we are proud to have Chris representing the Broncos for many years to come.”
It’s a move that helps ensure that the unit that is currently winning together stays together for the foreseeable future.
