Fantasy Basketball: Top Ten Power Forwards

You may have noticed that we moved a little bit out-of-order, and that is to intentionally build up anticipation about who is going to top the list of small forwards. With Kevin Durant on a minutes limit, and as of today, LeBron James missing Thursday’s tilt against his fellow superstar with a bum knee. Chances are, the injury is minor and just aimed at keeping the King fresh, but only time will tell.

Now on to the subject at hand, and that is breaking down the top options at power forward. This is one of my favorite positions in basketball,l boasting some of the greatest names to play this fantastic game. Now I want to remind everyone of a couple of things before we go down this list. First of all, this is a list for fantasy purposes only. After all, my goal here is to get you to that elusive fantasy gold and nothing more. Just to give a shout out though, this position boasts one of my favorite and most respected players to have ever played this game, and that man is none other than Tim Duncan. The Big Fundamental is in my humble opinion probably one of the most under-rated players to have ever played this game in an overall aspect, not just for fantasy purposes. I would have him atop my list of all time players at the power forward position, and arguably in the top 5 of players all time.

Secondly this list will be comprised based on mostly the player’s primary position eligibility in ESPN.com leagues. With all this established, let us move forward and break down the top ten power forwards in your chase for fantasy goodness. As I began to study and analyze this list, it became even more clear why power forwards have always been my favorite fantasy position. There are so many available options and such a variety of players to choose from. I also quickly gathered how differently a player like Serge Ibaka, who is near god-like status and top of the list in cats and rotisserie leagues, might not even make a top 10 list in points leagues. So I will do my best here to break down overall value and be fair to all styles, but do realize that if I rank Ibaka low it is because of my leaning to points leagues.
