Injured Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is still out, and will not play against Washington with week in the NFL

The season is on the brink of collapse for the Philadelphia Eagles, and their starting quarterback won’t be flying in to rescue them this week. According to a report, Nick Foles will remain out for the team’s week 16 game against Washington.

Foles broke his collarbone back in the Eagles’ Week 9 games against Houston. There was hope that he would be able to return this week, but that isn’t going to happen.

With Foles out, Mark Sanchez will get another start at quarterback. Sanchez has struggled over the last two weeks after playing well earlier in the season.

The Eagles had won four of five game with Sanchez at quarterback before his recent poor performances. Sanchez threw for just 96 yards two weeks ago in Philadelphia’s loss to the Seahawks. He followed up that performance by throwing two interceptions against division rival Dallas on Sunday.

Over those two games, the Eagles have gone from being in control of their division to being a full game behind Dallas with just two games left to play.

Before the injury, Foles was having a good-but-not-great season for Philadelphia. While the Eagles were 6-2 in the games in which he started, Foles’ production dropped off considerably from last season’s rates.

Foles has a passer rating this season of 81. 4, which is actually less the rating that Sanchez currently has. Foles has also thrown 10 interceptions to just 13 touchdowns.

Still, the Eagles were hoping to get him back for his steady leadership, and believed that he could spark the offense which is suddenly struggling. It seems they’ll have to wait another week before that happens.
