With just two weeks left in the season, an injury to DeMarco Murray could add drama to the races for various NFL awards.

There are only two weeks left in the NFL season, and the races for the various NFL awards appear to be winding down. There has been very little movement at the top in each category in recent weeks, as the best players slowly distance themselves from the pack.

That could change this week though. Dallas running back DeMarco Murray required surgery after breaking a bone in his hand on Sunday. The NFL’s leading rusher is now likely to see a much smaller role over the last two weeks, if he plays at all.

That has a chance to mix things up considerably over the next two weeks. Not only does it directly impact the Offensive Player of the Year award, it could have an impact on other awards as well.

For example: Tony Romo has only eight interceptions this season, and could possibly throw his way into the MVP race over the next two weeks if Murray sits out. Dallas also plays Andrew Luck and the Colts this week. A lopsided Indianapolis win could shift a few votes Luck’s way as well.

It will be interesting to see how all of this shakes out over the final two weeks of the season.
