After being cleared of a previous domestic violence incident, San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Ray McDonald is in trouble again

Seems like it is now a weekly event in the NFL with another player getting in trouble with the law.  For San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Ray McDonald, he’s now on incident number two after an alleged sexual assault at his home on Monday.

More from NFL

McDonald was just cleared in November of a previous domestic violence event at his home back in August.  After insufficient evidence, he was finally cleared.  Now this incident.  You have to be thinking at this point with McDonald where there is smoke there is probably fire.

Per si.com McDonald is now being investigated for a sexual assault after a hospital contacted police after the alleged victim went there seeking treatment.  On Tuesday night, San Jose police executed a search warrant at McDonald’s home.

McDonald never saw any reduction of playing time despite the investigation, unlike some of his counterparts around the league whose teams did take action while those players were being investigated for their incidents.  The Niners came under a lot of scrutiny for allowing McDonald to continue to play.

After being cleared in November, some Niners fans felt vindication when they could not gather enough evidence to move further with the case.  At this point, the Niners have to have red flags enter their mind in regard to McDonald.  Do they sit him this time, especially being out of playoff contention?  If they don’t, there may be even more backlash towards the organization than the last time.  Stay tuned.
