Just a few days away from the Week 16 matchup against Indianapolis, there is still plenty of uncertainty about whether he will play.

The good news is the NFL’s leading rusher was able to at least take part in drills at Thursday’s Dallas Cowboys practice just three days after undergoing surgery on his hand.

Murray’s activity in Thursday’s practice was similar to what he did in Wednesday’s practice. Murray participated in pass catching drills, then relinquished first-team snaps to backup running back Lance Dunbar.

While he wore extra protective gear on his recovering hand, it’s worth noting that Murray did not seem to shy away from using his injured hand to grab the ball.

Head coach Jason Garrett said that the Cowboys will make the right decision for DeMarco and the Cowboys regarding playing their star running back this week against the Indianapolis Colts. If Murray is unable to suit up, the Cowboys will rely most likely on a combination of Lance Dunbar and Joseph Randle.

With Andrew Luck and the high-powered Colts offense up next for Dallas, the Cowboys could really use the NFL’s leading rusher to keep pace. If Murray can’t go, look for the Cowboys to really lean on wide receiver Dez Bryant for offense.
