Why Would They Want Rondo: Adding Rajon Rondo to a roster that has Dirk Nowtizki and Tyson Chandler on it cold be dangerous to a lot of teams in the Western Conference. Dallas needs a star point guard and were so desperate for one this offseason that they tried offering a deal to Lance Stephenson. He’s a dangerous asset for the Mavericks and could put them near the top of the conversation for an NBA Finals team if acquired.

Can They Afford Him: It’s a steep price, but draft picks can lessen the load and allow for some players to be taken out of the deal. Monta Ellis is the biggest trade-worthy name that the Celtics could look at, unless Chandler Parsons suddenly became available. Dallas will likely want a Big 3 of Parsons, Dirk and Rondo though, so moving Ellis, Harris, Jefferson and picks could be a deal that gets it done.

Will They Pull Off A Trade: It’s a hard sell to make this trade and it’s all assuming that Ellis is part of the deal. Getting Jeff Green could be an option for Dallas too, but the idea of having a Big 3 of Dirk, Parsons and Rondo might be too tantalizing for Mark Cuban to pass up and not make happen — Shark Tank style.
