NBA: Top 5 Early MVP Candidates
2. Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors
Stephen Curry is the best player on the best team in the NBA. That is another good way to get MVP attention.
There may not be many players besides Curry you would hate to see with the ball in his hands, ready to take a game winning shot. He is a deadly shooter, and needs very little space to shoot the ball. While some players need to have time to set their shot, Curry seems to shoot the ball almost as soon as he receives the ball, and from any angle.
The shots Curry makes has his teammate, Klay Thompson, talking about him. In an interview with ESPN, Thompson said that “No humble man can take those shots,” in reference to the ridiculous angles Curry makes his shots from.
Curry had a game against the Miami Heat in which he scored 40 points…on only 19 shots, making EIGHT three pointers! The next night in Orlando, he drained six threes en route to 28 points
Curry’s 26.7 PER is third in the NBA, and he has an amazing 61.7 percent True Shooting Percentage. He is shooting 48.3 percent overall, and is putting up an amazing 7.8 threes per game.
It will be fun to watch Curry over the rest of the season. He is one of the most exciting players in the NBA. If he can keep his shooting up, and help the Warriors continue their winning ways, he will certainly be in the MVP talks late into the season.
