Drew Stanton Has Infection That Could End His Season
By Evan Massey
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton is battling an infection that could end his season.
Drew Stanton took over for Arizona Cardinals’ starting quarterback Carson Palmer after he tore his ACL, and then proceeded to hurt his own knee soon after taking over the starting role. Now, the Cardinals are left with Ryan Lindley and Logan Thomas at the quarterback position with the playoffs just a week away, and Stanton’s season could very well be over.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, Stanton is now dealing with an infection that has put his season in jeopardy.
This season in nine appearances, Stanton has thrown for 1,711 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions. He hasn’t been nearly the difference maker that Palmer was, but he has done just enough to keep the Cardinals in contention for the number one playoff seed.
That being said, he is the last quarterback on their roster that could have a shot at leading the Cardinals to the Super Bowl. Lindley has played in eight career games, and has racked up 998 yards, no touchdowns, and eight interceptions. Thomas on the other hand has played in just two games, and has thrown for 81 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.
Neither of those two guys is going to be able to get the job done against one of the better teams in the NFL. If Arizona wants to get to the Super Bowl, they are going to have to go through teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers. Stanton was hoping to return for Arizona’s wildcard game, but that doesn’t appear all that likely at this point in time.
It will be interesting to see what ends up happening with him, and whether or not the Cardinals can win with either Lindley or Thomas. Arizona hasn’t caught a break all season long as far as injuries are concerned, and this is just another stumbling block in their way
