NFL: What to Watch For in Week 17
By Ryan Ratty
Will the Cowboys Start Their Starters?
By virtue of their win last week and the Eagles’ loss against the Washington Redskins, the Dallas Cowboys have clinched the NFC East. Led by their running game and the efficient play of Tony Romo, the Cowboys will be headed to the post-season for the first time since 2009. Injuries have ravaged this team in the past few years and that is raising a ton of concerns whether they should start their starters in 2014.
Against the Washington Redskins, a team who has injured Romo the last two times they have played him, the Cowboys would be wise to rest their starters. Romo’s back injury comes to mind, but DeMarco Murray’s hand injury is also a concern and they will need him for the playoffs. Despite that, the Cowboys are in a great offensive rhythm and giving them another week off could mean some future rust in the playoffs, which is something the Cowboys definitely want to avoid.
