Kings big-man DeMarcus Cousins made Mason Plumlee think twice about contesting in the paint.
Somebody once told me growing up that basketball was a non-contact sport. That somebody turned out to be laughably wrong.
Maybe in theory it was supposed to be when Dr. James Naismith and the rest of the boys got the game going back in 1891. However, just as heavy balls and peach baskets faded away, so did the non-contact aspect of the game.
The paint in the NBA is not for the faint of heart and is where grown-men go to work each and every night. Sacramento Kings big-man DeMarcus Cousins will be damned if somebody works harder than him in his home, the paint.
For all the courage Brooklyn Nets center Mason Plumlee showed in that situation, he’s lucky he didn’t get his arm broken from that thunderous slam. Forward Sergey Karasev was a little too dangerously close for comfort as well.
Despite Cousins rocking one down on two guys winning that battle, it was Plumlee and the Nets who won the war as they came away with the 107-99 victory. Plumlee lead all Nets as he poured in 22 points to go along with four rebounds and three steals.
Cousins played 37 minutes, finishing with 24 points and grabbing 13 boards.
