Leonard Williams Leaves USC For 2015 NFL Draft
By Dave Fuqua
Today USC announces that Leonard Williams will be departing the school and declaring for the 2015 NFL Draft.
Just like that the most productive lineman the school has ever seen will leave a huge hole for the Trojans to fill on the defensive front next season. According to a statement released by the school, Williams had this to say:
"“This was a very hard decision for me, I love USC, Coach Sark [Steve Sarkisian] and the coaching staff, my teammates and the fans, and I love the game of college football. It’s hard to leave all of that. I know life is never the same once you leave college.“But I feel like it’s the right time for me to go. I feel like I’m ready. I’m looking forward to the new challenge that the NFL presents.”"
This news is no surprise to anyone who follows college football, as you can’t see a mock draft by anyone these days without seeing Williams’ name among the top projected picks for next season’s draft. The skills are pretty obvious for anyone who has seen him play, and with a 6’5 300-pound frame, he has the size to fit the bill at the next level.
The big man can play multiple positions along the defensive front and his been praised by all his coaches for his work ethic and his passion and love for the game of football. Williams was also a two-time All-American at defensive end for the Trojans, a 2014 team captain and Most Valuable Player, along with being the Defensive MVP for the Holiday Bowl win against Nebraska.
