NFL: 5 Easiest Roads to the Super Bowl
By Ryan Ratty
3. Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are 8-0 at home. Fact. Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in the league. Fact. Aaron Rodgers is injured. Also a fact. I understand that the Packers are quite unbeatable at home. Whoever goes up and plays in Green Bay will need to run the football, control the clock, get pressure on Rodgers, and not turn the football over. Rodgers entered the Week 17 divisional showdown against the Lions with a bum left calf. However, he aggravated the injury in the second quarter and that wasn’t a good sign for the Packers’ Super Bowl aspirations.
Rodgers has an unbelievable arm. He reads defenses with perfection and he is a proven winner. However, much of his game is on the run, which is something people tend to forget. Without his ability to get outside of the pocket because of the injury, Rodgers’ game is handcuffed. If a team can get pressure around the edge on Rodgers, the Packers become heavily dependent on Eddie Lacy. If the Seattle Seahawks win their division matchup against whomever they play, the Packers will host just one game at home. If the Packers have to travel to Seattle, it isn’t good because that is one team that can make Rodgers extremely uncomfortable in the pocket.
