Stanford Cardinal wide receiver Ty Montgomery will miss his second game in a row with an injured shoulder

Stanford Cardinal wide receiver Ty Montgomery’s NCAA career is over. He has played his last game for the 7-5 Cardinal. He has been ruled out of the Foster Farms Bowl against the Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday night.

Montgomery also missed the last regular-season game back on November 28th against the UCLA Bruins. The Cardinal won that game, upsetting the Bruins 31-10.

However there is no questioning that the Cardinal are better with Montgomery than they are without. The Cardinal receiver caught 61 passes for 604 yards. He had three touchdowns this season.

Montgomery finishes his Cardinal career with 172 receptions for 2,125 yards and 15 touchdowns. He had the same number of receptions (61) this season as he did in 2013. However he scored 10 touchdowns 2013 when the Cardinal offense was more prolific. However, Brett McMurray of ESPN says no more.

Stanford has the clear home field advantage in this game even though they aren’t playing on their own field. The Cardinal play in nearby Palo Alto. The home cooking should help the Cardinal chances as well.

Even the loss of Montgomery still has the Cardinal as a 14 point favorite over the Terrapins. The bowl itself is in its 13th season, having played under different sponsorships in the past.

The game was previously known as the Fight Hunger Bowl. It has been played at AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants since its inception in 2002.
