Ohio State coach Urban Meyer believes quarterback Braxton Miller will return next year.

After Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller suffered a season-ending shoulder injury, many expected the Buckeyes season to be done and over with. That didn’t happen as redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett led the Buckeyes to the Big 10 conference championship game. Barrett unfortunately suffered a similar fate as Barrett, fracturing his ankle against Michigan in the season finale.

Many thought the Buckeyes season was over, then third-string quarterback as Cardale Jones led the Buckeyes in a 59-0 rout of Wisconsin. Jones now leads the Buckeyes into the first-ever college football playoff as the Buckeyes prepare to do battle with No. 1 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day.

With the string of success each quarterback is having, Miller’s job as starting quarterback, isn’t guaranteed. With that, there are rumors, that Miller could be looking to transfer to somewhere else where he could be the man behind center every Saturday.

Meyer however expects that his quarterback will be back as a Buckeye next season.

Meyer comes across as confident in his answer and it certainly sounds like he has consistent communication with Miller about the process. Transferring schools is a long process and that could keep Miller as a Buckeye. Miller, if he returns, will be given just as much chance as Barrett or Jones to earn the starting position and will have plenty of merit to earn the nod considering he was a successful starter before he went down.

Miller is a player that has Heisman potential with his big numbers and flashy play and is very deserved of the starting quarterback spot. He is as deadly with his feet as he is with his arm and would be a perfect fit for many programs across the country.

Miller could be an attractive piece for many teams, including Florida State or Oregon, who will be looking for a new signal caller after Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota presumably leave for the NFL. Both of those teams are already perennial championship contenders, adding the experienced Miller would make them even more dangerous and a threat to capture a National Championship.

With the college season in full bowl game mode, this is a story to keep your eye on over the next couple of months. Whether Miller remains a Buckeye, or ends up somewhere else, he is going to make a team very happy.
