Hey guys welcome back to another edition of Fantasy Basketball: Buying Low! I hope that these articles have helped you manage your team and be able to swoop in and buy some guys at nice values. Hopefully you could capitalize on other’s values and sell them at a profit. Our goal here is to do everything we can to help you manage your team and understand player’s values and more importantly, a player’s perceived value. I mean after all, when pulling off a trade, it is more important how your trading partner perceives the players value than how you do.
We are going to continue our efforts to try and help you target some players to attempt to buy low on and some guys on your roster that you may want to consider selling high on. I do want to remind you that while we are trying to buy low here, there is nothing worse than getting a crappy trade offer from someone who just skimmed over a buy low article and fired out offers of Danny Granger for Rudy Gay. I mean come on guys, 2010 is gone and it is never coming back.
Nothing will frustrate the people in your league more than opening an email with some half baked offer with some silly mess in the comment line. I can tell you right now if the offer is Granger for Rudy Gay, whatever you put in the comment line is not getting a second look because of the disgust from the offer. You are also not getting a counter or a serious look from any legit offer you may send in the future. So always try to start your trade conversations out with at least a mildy realistic offer and go from there. If possible, just try to drop them a line and say something like what kind of offer would it take to get Rudy Gay off your hands.
So now that we have some ettiquette out of the way, let us get to the business at hand: and that is winning our fantasy leagues. I will always say the best way to do that is to go out and win some trades and make the timely waiver acquisitions. In any active league, you are not going to win by simply sitting on your hands and making the foolish statement of I drafted the best team. In an active league, you will need to trade or make a killer waiver pick up to get an advantage because every year there are players off the waiver wire who alter the course of the season for fantasy leagues. So good luck, and remember to hit me up on Twitter if you have any questions @davefuqua or at @fantasycpr.
