Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James called the talk of him leaving the team after this year is ‘outlandish.’

There have been plenty of rumors surrounding LeBron James and the possibility of him leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers after this season if they don’t pick things up. Cleveland is 18-14 so far this season, and has gotten off to a much slower start than many expected.

That being said, James himself says that idea of him leaving is “outlandish” and that he is in Cleveland to build something special.

Cleveland welcomed James back with open arms when he chose to return home this past offseason, despite the pain he put them through four years ago. Leaving again would tear out the hears of Cavs fans, and LeBron knows exactly how bad that move would be for his legacy.

“I’m here to build, build something great in the present and the future, and that’s the reason I’m back,” James said via the Northeast Ohio Media Group. “I’ve got no other reason to have to continue to talk about things that’s so outlandish. So, I’m here, this is where I’ll be, and this is where I’m comfortable.”

James is trying to put a stop to the rumors, but they are going to continue flying around until the Cavaliers can break out of their early season slump. There are plenty of reasons for the Cavaliers’ slow start, and it is way too early to be worrying about a team that is currently fifth in the Eastern Conference.

Obviously the concern of James leaving again is going to haunt the Cavaliers’ franchise after what happened the first time around. As much as he may want to leave the Cavaliers after a bad season, he will likely be met with the same vitriol that he was greeted with the first time he left.

Don’t expect to see LeBron James leaving the Cavaliers anytime soon, if he ever does again. At 30 years of age, he still has a good amount of basketball left in him and there are other options in the NBA that may suit him much better. That being said, LeBron has suggested he wants to build something great in Cleveland and is trying to keep that message the focus of his time with the Cavaliers.
