LeBron James has slight lead overall in NBA All-Star voting

No surprise in current NBA All-Star voting as King James leads all players in overall votes so far

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James has a slight lead over Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry in NBA All-Star voting tallies just released.  James has 775,810 votes to Curry’s 755,486.  Both of course lead their respective conferences in the voting.

It is no surprise that James leads all players in voting being arguably the most popular player in the sport.  What will be interesting is how much that lead shrinks now.  News just broke that James will be out at least the next two weeks due to injury.  Honestly I don’t think it will matter much.  He’ll be there at the end.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is right behind Curry in second-place amongst guards in the Western Conference with 694.655 votes.  Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans leads front court players in the west with 732,154 votes.  Behind him in second-place is Blake Griffin from the Los Angeles Clippers with a distant 403,415 votes.  Marc Gasol is third with 343,847 votes.

In the Eastern Conference, behind James in the front court in second-place is Pau Gasol from the Chicago Bulls with 372,109 votes and in third-place is Carmelo Anthony from the New York Knicks with 365,449 votes.

As for guards in the Eastern Conference John Wall from the Washington Wizards leads with 439,395 votes.  In second-place is Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade with 396,757 votes.  Rounding out the top three is Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving with 308,727 votes.

Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors is within striking distance with 274,471 votes but the rest of the group so far doesn’t look like they will make a run at those current top three.

Only Houston Rockets guard James Harden appears to be within striking distance of the top Western Conference guards with 516,514 votes.  Chris Paul from the Clippers is a surprisingly distant fourth with 334,544 votes so far.

So barring any major movements amongst the fan bases in voting what you see is here is pretty much what you should expect come All-Star Sunday in New York at Madison Square Garden on Sunday February 15th.  I believe for the most part so far fans have it right.  Yes you have popular players but at the same time you do have players here who have been major contributors for their teams so far this season.

This game marks the 5th time in history that the NBA has held the annual event at Madison Square Garden in New York.  The game will be shown on TNT.
