Why are the New York Knicks?
By Ian Levy
The New York Knicks are a very bad basketball team. They have five wins, one more win than the hopeless Philadelphia 76ers, and are a total disaster on both ends of the floor. They can’t play defense, the offense doesn’t have any kind of organization, everybody hates each other, and the team is ravaged by injuries. It really can’t get much worse right?
I….it….but…….why?
The vine is only a few seconds but 20 questions appear after the first loop and then 40 more appear after the second loop. For starers, what in the world is that spacing? There are so many Pistons packed down into the paint it’s a wonder why the Knicks are even attempting to shoot down low. But now the real question. WHY IS JR SMITH PASSING!? Smith is notorious for NOT passing. He is the absolute definition of a gunner. There is a flow chart about how much he doesn’t pass.
Smith is so wide open that he could have done a ballerina spin, cooked some dinner, and then drink some coffee before the defender even had time to contest his shot. Then, against every odd in the universe he passed, to a completely shocked Jason Smith. So shocked that he fumbled the ball away, resulting in a turnover.
In JR Smith’s defense, he probably had the idea that the Knicks were working off a broken play and everybody on the Pistons were down in the paint. An open 3-pointer from the corner, after the extra pass, was a good idea in theory, but this is the Knicks where even the good ideas are bad ideas. #KnicksTape forever.
