According to reports, the Knicks have pushed star Carmelo Anthony to sit out games because of injury.

If you’re angry New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony isn’t playing through his knee injury, don’t blame him — according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo!, the Knicks have a big hand in the forward taking some games off.

Despite expectations being low coming into the season, things have hit rock bottom as the Knicks are currently down 30 points to the Memphis Grizzlies, well on their way to a whopping 5-32 record, good for the worst in the NBA.

With that said, the Knicks’ urge to keep Anthony out shouldn’t be a temporary thing. Instead, Phil Jackson, Derek Fisher and others should be asking Anthony to sit out the rest of the 2014-15 NBA season.

Why? Because there’s no upside in this season.

Yes the East is bad, but this Knicks team wouldn’t make the playoffs if they tried — the goal now should be landing a top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft (hello Jahlil Okafor or Karl Towns) and Anthony playing hampers their chances to possibly land the number one overall pick.

Most importantly, wasting Anthony’s health for short-term success would be a very New York Knick thing.

As we are now seeing with Kobe Bryant and have seem with other stars in the NBA’s past, Father Time is kind to no one, and at age 30, Carmelo Anthony should be as careful with his body as possible or the future of this Knicks team could be bleaker than imaginable.
