With a big Southeast Division and Eastern Conference game Sunday, the Atlanta Hawks unleashed their super-secret weapon at point guard.

The Atlanta Hawks got off to a big start against the Washington Wizards at Philips Arena Sunday, taking a 12-point lead at the end of the first quarter and extending it to 20 early in the second.

A big part of that was their point guard, Firsto Lasto, who had seven points, three assists and three steals in nine first-quarter minutes.

Lasto is a borderline All-Star contender this season, averaging 17.5 points, 7.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 31.6 minutes per game this season, shooting .486/.361/.867.

Haven’t heard of Firsto Lasto? Let Turner Sports South introduce you:

Right there on the left. Starting at point guard, No. 0, Firsto Lasto.

It’s quite possible that someone on the production crew got a serious talking-to after forgetting to fill in the name of Jeff Teague on the graphic before it aired.

It’s not like Teague is a new guy—he was the Hawks’ 19th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft out of Wake Forest and has been Atlanta’s starting point guard for four seasons now.

His scoring is at a career-high level this season, as is his field-goal accuracy, rebounding and assists, even as his playing time is the lowest it has been since he was a backup to Mike Bibby and later Kirk Hinrich in 2010-11 (and, yes, I had almost forgotten Hinrich spent a bit of time in the ATL).

Pro tip for people who need to fill in blanks. Use three Xs, like this—XXX. It stands out a lot more and doesn’t look like it’s already been filled in.

And, oh, by the way, the odds that Jeff Teague becomes known as “Firsto Lasto”? Close to 100 percent.
