Now that John Fox and the Denver Broncos have mutually parted ways, we examine the likely candidates to replace him.

In a shocking piece of news today, John Fox and the Denver Broncos have mutually agreed to go their separate ways.

The news comes down only one day after another disappointing postseason home loss for the Peyton Manning lead squad. The franchise has now taken on the persona of their legendary leader: so good he’s immortal during the regular season, yet so underwhelming in the playoffs that it puzzles even the most football savvy mind.

Once Denver took that tough loss on the chin to Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts, 24-13 on Sunday, many wondered if their window had now closed on them. After all, when veteran get pieced together in this rough salary-cap filled world of the NFL, that window will shut very sternly and quickly when the time comes.

Today, the answer is becoming a little more clear.

What is in store for their future though?

It obviously all hinges on Manning’s decision of whether to come back or not. Yet again, his arm and mind looked old in the cold air of Denver. Although he played with a strained quad down the stretch, very few believe it was the main reason for the struggles. And we know it cannot be blamed on every bitter postseason loss he’s experienced.

There’s a few directions owner John Elway and company can go.
