Since then, we have been waiting to hear from Mayweather.

For those boxing fans who are hoping to see the biggest fight the sport could put together, there is some good news right from the mouth of Floyd Mayweather. It is something that everyone has been wanting to hear for years.

In an interview with Shade 45 Radio, Mayweather said the fight with Pacquiao will happen.

From Edward Chaykovsky of BoxingScene.com:

"Hopefully its Mayweather-Pacquiao [on May 2nd]. Of course we are trying to make the fight happen between me and Pacquiao. Are we negotiating? Absolutely we are negotiating. But Pacquiao said that he agreed to everything. What did you agree to? You have no say so. You have a boss. You don’t have no say so. You have a boss…..that’s called Top Rank Promotions. It’s not called Pacquiao Promotions. With my company, it’s called Mayweather Promotions. We have been going back and forth, communicating with their team. Hopefully we can make this fight happen. […]We’re going to make it happen though. We’re trying, but it’s been extremely difficult dealing with Top Rank. And I don’t want to sit here and point the finger at Pacquiao and say ‘it’s him.’ It’s not Pacquiao, it’s his promoter. A lot of times when Pacquiao says ‘I agreed’ – you don’t have nothing to do with this, you’re not a boss. On a chess board you’re a pawn."

Praise all that is holy.

Sure, Mayweather is still blaming Pacquiao’s team and Top Rank, but he seems to be willing to give the fight an honest effort. At least we can all hope that is the case.

One thing is for certain: this is the closest we have ever come to the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight ever becoming official.
