Russell Westbrook gets asked about execution by Ernie Johnson
By Ian Levy
By now everybody knows about Russell Westbrook’s notorious single word press conference to the media. Well, single word isn’t quite right because he also told a reporter that he doesn’t like them. Except Nick, he likes Nick just not the other guy. It riled up a lot of fans, and media but it was really just typical Westbrook behavior. His abrasive personality has always rubbed a few people the wrong way.
Still, it’s kind of a bummer to see such a fun player on the court be so very not fun off the court. Which is why it was a pleasure to see Ernie Johnson, of Turner Sports, give Westbrook a chance to have some fun his media controversy.
EJ is one of the best in the business, and he clearly caught Westbrook a little off guard by asking him about the execution tonight, and if he liked them. Well for starters nobody could dislike you EJ, but it’s great to see Westbrook choose to laugh at this. After an NBA player does something controversial it can let off a little tension by being open to laughing at the moment. It immediately fixes any negative PR, because how can you hate a smile like that? For such a serious guy Westbrook has a very contagious smile, and he should do more of that. More dunks, less controversial interviews, and more smiles is what the people want, maybe he’ll oblige. Probably not.
